Capacity Building in Mwenezi (Chizumba and Dinhe Irrigation Schemes) and Beitbridge

Empowered Life Trust is currently contracted by Tere Des Hommes Italy (TDH) under their CROPS initiative in Mwenezi and Beitbridge districts, the CROPS initiative is being implemented by a consoitium being led by CESVI Zimbabwe in partnership with Tere Des Hommes Italy, iFarm, Mwenezi Development Training Centre and Matopo Research .  In Mwenezi Empowered Life Trust has trained over 300 farmers in Murove, Dinhe and Chizumba Irrigation Schemes on Farming as a Business, Training for Transformation and developing Action Plans for the resuscitation and sustainability of their irrigation schemes. Farmers in Mwenezi have a contract with Seed-co to grow sugar beans.

In Beitbridge ELT has done the same intervention with Shashe Irrigation Scheme where farmers are growing oranges and selling them to Schweppes Zimbabwe.

In addition the organization has trained teachers from various schools in Mwenezi and Beitbridege under the CROPS Nutrition and Sensitive Agriculture as well as the School Feeding Programs. The teachers received training on enhancing their agri-income generating projects.

Empowered Life Trust now has 2 years of experience in Agri-Enterprise capacity building in rural communities.
